This community is to help me and others find ways to make their journals look how we want them too.

I wouldn't say I'm an expert at messing with layouts though I have figured out a lot about Flexible Squares. If you have a question please feel free to ask me by commenting below.

Couple Rules:

1. And example of your problem or what you want done to your journal.
2. Sometimes it can take me a little while to find the information asked for, so please be patient.
3. I don't do slash-y type things (ie headers). I can still provide you with a layout but then header would have to come from somewhere else.
4. I'm not currently taking requests for requests but I'm more than willing to help you figure out problems with coding.

LJ is dropping the ball a little and so community moderators aren't getting their comments. So if you don't hear back from me in a few days head over HERE to let me know if you need any help.

I've recently created a new journal and right now it is completely blank! I will be upgrading it in about two weeks to a paid account but I really would love a custom layout for it. I think flexible squares is the best layout option and would love to have a Colby Granger themed layout.

This community is perfect for any images that could be used.

I just want the it to be a clear picture and maybe 2 or 3 put together but I don't want a cluster of face shots. If that makes sense.

I'll be using the layout for my writing and I like dark colors. Reds, blacks, blues.

I really love all of your stuff it is truly amazing what you can do and I hope I am requesting at the right place and that your still accepting requests.

Oh and for whatever banner you come up with I would like to have something like this somewhere on it...

Is he in danger of getting kicked off Numb3rs? I haven't watched the show in a while but I kind of hope he stays.

Anyways, I'm willing to make you a layout. In fact, I've been working on one and I'm going to try that one out for you. It is dark so I thought it might work.

I think I know what you want header wise. I'll work on something and see what I can come up with. I found a couple other pictures besides the ones you sent that are great so we'll see what we can do.

I have made some progress and I would liked some input at this time.

You can head over to workshop_rees and see it in use. I have the background of the entire layout as these lines but I can change it to have the numbers like the header if you like. You can actually see this image if you go into the post that has your name on it.

Let me know what you think of the header. I didn't want to do head shots but I was having trouble with blending so I opted for boxing them... let me know.

Don't be shy telling me if you don't like something. We want this to be exactly how you want it.

Also you see in the header link that layout lounge one is only in mine and will completely disappear when you put this in your journal. I wasn't sure about tiny icons. We can leave them off or change them how you like.

Hey. I was wondering if you could do a layout and header for me. I was wanting something with Cote de Pablo and then with a layout that would match the header. I would also like the header to include my username and perhaps some text. If you need me to I could probably provide some pictures to use for the header, though I'm not sure if I could find pics that are of high enough quality. Your help would be greatly appreciated and of course I would credit you.

Hi, there. I found you by Googling, so I hope this is the right place.

I have a permanent paid account, and for the last few years I've been using Autumn, based on Expressive by Taylor Savvy. I don't love it, but I needed to switch to S2 in a hurry because I wanted to be able to uncompress comments, and it's been readable, if a bit smaller font than I'd consider ideal.

A couple of days ago, the font changed. It's still san-serif (again, not ideal for me), but it's smaller and looks almost dot-matrixy, like the old AppleWriter fonts. No one else seems to have had this problem, including someone who's using the same layout I am.

So the simple question is, do you know what might have caused the font change, and how can I fix it? If the designer changed his or her original style, would it propagate through to what I'm using?

The more complex question is, how hard is it to tweak a layout? What I'd really like is the same layout with a) Georgia font at 10 pt and b) a slightly narrower column because I keep my browser at about 2/3 of the screen width and the basic layout is a bit too wide.

(Also, LJ suddenly stopped sending me notifications of comments as of a couple of weeks ago, but I have no idea who I can ask about fixing that. Just sayin'.)

The size thing is a problem because I don't know enough about it to really change everything. It is a whole different coding then I'm used too.

As for text. That I can help you with. Adding the below coding to the box HERE (http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml?group=customcss) should do the trick:

As for notifications. This has happened to a lot of us. LJ messed with things and turned some stuff off. Go to Manage Settings (http://www.livejournal.com/manage/settings/?cat=notifications) and make sure all your notifications are turned on.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you with the width but I could do it very easily in Flexible Squares. If you knew about how wide you wanted the journal we could come up with something from one of the layouts I've created here.

What exactly do you mean by one side of the journal. You want an image say for example on this journal where the black and white design is and then have your journal off to one side?

1. I was using your newest layout with the Castle header, which is lovely.
My problem is that every computer monitor I use is giganimous and therefore I like my layouts to be at least 900px because it makes it easier on my eyes. I tried changing the width and such in the CSS codes but it messed up the layout so that the entries were far lower than they should have been. Any help?

Hey, I am being a total pest after saying i wouldn't be,

What I really want to do is add a few more links into the header navigation, where archive, info and all that sit. I can't figure out how to do it. i know WHERE to do it but the how escapes me....

I can try. So you are thinking much like you already have only with different colors and a header? So full page or would you like something that isn't quite full page?

I'm currently working on something width is 80% of the browser over at workshop_rees. I can put the sidebar on the side for you rather than up top because I don't think it works well with the percentage sizing of the journal.

Also, could you maybe post a public post so I can view the way your current posts look?

I'm going to be bugging you a lot because I'm a perfectionist and I want it to be exactly what you want. ;-)

Okay so I think I've solved this which you can see over at workshop_rees. There is even a post with your adjusted coding which you can replace in your Custom CSS to impliment. I took the liberty of helping you with the tiny icons which are all messed up because of LJ.
