Layout Lounge

So not everyone is a LiveJournal expert (I swear I'm not either). And, of course, there are those out there that are learning this all for the first time. So here are a few things that have come up that I hope will help beginners and people who just hadn't figured it out yet. And yes, this is the second such post. The first just had a ton of comments and I wanted to clean things up.

So you might have noticed pictures disappearing from your journal or layout. That is because TinyPic closed down and took everything you uploaded there with it. I know it sucks but think of it as an excuse to clean up a little and if you are looking for a place to put imags try Imgur. It is a little more complicated that TinyPic but they appear to be free for now. PhotoBucket costs now so I've been slowly trying to move everything off there though convienently they don't allow you to download everything you've uploaded to their site.

Imgur is more of a post area but you if you keep a post "private" you can keep adding to it. It doesn't show you the image link but if you right click and pick "Copy Image Location" you can then post your picture to LiveJournal. I've made "posts" for different things: Movies, TV, Random Posting Images, etc.

Believe me I get this is annoying because I just when through all the posts here and updated images and links and now I have to check for TInyPic images. I despise them especially since the first I heard about it was when they were closed.

Okay, I thought I'd pace these tutorials farther out (maybe once a week) but there are a few I think I should just get out there, just in case you are "practicing" what I'm explaining.

Most coding options like font's, text alignment, etc can be found in the Code Index. If you don't find something there please post a comment to the Code Index and I will help you out.

To start out we will be working in Custom CSS of a Flexible Squares Layout. You should use the THEME & LAYOUT CHANGE FOR BEGINNERS to start things off and then come back here to proceed. If you already understand this process then the template I use is Flexible Squares: Autumn. Remember to choose NO for all three options (unless you are using PAID LAYER customizations and then the first one is a yes).

Trying to get this effect on your sidebar?
This is a very simple code:
<a href="link url"><img src="image url" /></a>

You can put this in your blurb section of your sidebar. And by repeating it you'll get a set of social media icons, just put the links one right after another.

However it is possible you want to go from this:
