I want to tell you how I come up with a tutorial. Someone out there asks me a question and it dawns on me that while I know what they are looking for, some of you out there may not. So a tutorial is born. If there is something you wish to know how to do comment and let me know. I'll send you to a tutorial I've already made or another tutorial will be born.

I'm also willing to hear any suggestions for making a layout do something specific (i.e. rounded userpics). Of course, I can't promise everything is possible on LJ but I can see what I can do to implement those idea in the future.

Do you have a tumblr? Do you do tumblr themes? I have a couple different tumblrs all with different themes. Once in a while I make small changes to the themes I use. Sometimes I get stuck trying to fix something the way I want it but not knowing how. Right now all my tumblrs are fine. However, I often think how awesome it would be if you could help me out the next time I get stuck on something in tumblr land.

Will you let me know if you start working with tumblr coding in the future?
A lot of LJ people left for tumblr.

I do have a tumblr account but have never messed with it because it seemed more complicated than LJ with less ability to make it look how I want (which I find important). I have been planning on looking around there and should I decided to make customizations I'll post links from here to where they are posted at Tumblr.

So tumblr wouldn't let me into my account. They've officially locked me out because they say it isn't my account. Should something change I will look into layouts.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your comment! I don't check LJ very often anymore.

Maybe your tumblr account got hijacked somehow. Maybe you logged in to a bogus login page. I have heard of that happening before. Sorry about that. You should start a new account!

I wanted your help with my sidebar. I wanted all the links to show all the time despite the flag box taking up so much space. And the flag box keeps getting bigger as I get new clicks from new countries. the box expands to include each new flag.

I want to keep the sidebar fixed and not scroll down able. I am thinking I may be able to solve my problem with a navigation page. So it would be one link and when you click on that link all my links show up in a new page. They are super neat!

I haven't had time to try the navigation page yet. Real life is really busy right now. Although I do want it fixed.

Thank you for your offer but I don't want to cause you to waste your time trying to fix it when the navigation page might fix it easily. If the navigation page doesn't work for me I will let you know and hopefully you can help me!

My recommendation is to add an overflow to your CSS for the sidebar. Keep it fixed and a certain height but add
overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: auto;

This will make your sidebar fixed at a certain height but scroll inside the sidebar for everything that is making it bigger.

Do you fool around with Dream Width? I've been trying to get my flexible square layouts to work over there nothing I've tried so far has worked. I have no idea what to do, I'd like to see a tutorial on using flexible square layouts on DW!

I haven't done much coding at dream width though I do know how to move Flexible Squares over to Dreamwidth. I'll do a tutorial on that. Great suggestion.

That would be a life saver! I been playing with different layers and so on to get my layout to work none fixed it so far. don't know why DW doesn't just create a similar layout that would work with LJs flexible square style sheets.

A way to fix the blue Navigation bar at the top of the screen (Ljs navigation bar) not sure what it's called. I know it can be modified but whatever LJs messed with also messed them up. I saw a tut on it long ago, but it no longer works with the new Ljs code. anyway a tutorial on that would be nice.

Okay I've been researching these. The embedding of fonts isn't really possible because you don't have a server here and you technically could host a font elsewhere and link to it but you don't really mess with specific page coding which you would need to do to embed at link at LJ. So that is a no go.

This is possible if you use the spoiler coding in your profile. The things is that once someone opens it they have to refresh to close it. I'll make a post.

Oh yeah? well I hope it works. I got one to work awhile back using a feature in MS word it worked perfectly, until I used a friends computer and noticed the font was only visible to me. stupidest thing ever why would anybody be embedding fonts online for only them to see SMH. =/

I do it just so the journal looks good to me but it has always bothered me that I can't make it so everyone sees them.

1) How do you put text area boxes side by side?

2) Different layout styles for posting book reviews like how do you get text on side of the covers image I've seen this done and I know how to do basic ones. I'm looking for different ones I've seen people do it where it's in steps one book under the other that a further over than the other and so on also how do I put two side by side? THANKS AGAIN =)

Honestly, I think it is but I can't seem to figure it out. I found coding and tutorials but I can't get them to work. So frustrating.

1) What exactly do you mean? The posts or just the text areas like I use for code for my layout posts?

2) Do you have an example because I think I know what you mean but I'm not entirely sure.

I think putting them side to side is just a matter of having them in the same paragraph but I'm not positive until I'm positive I know what you are referring too.

Okay the text boxes are literally just next to each other which means there coding is on the same line... I can do a tutorial on that.

As for #2, are you sure they are supposed to be like that. I always assume the didn't leave enough space.

It is only doing that because of the short text from the previous book. Will tutorial...

Okay so I just posted a tutorial. After I stopped looking for the font solution it kind of fell in my lap but only for Google Fonts. It is something so I shared.

Footer Image?

That is a good question. I'd have to look into that. I'm sure you can make a background for a footer but I don't know if you can make and independent image.

Hey! I just found this community in the hopes of achieving a particular style. I'd love to have a banner image at the top but not have it scroll with the rest of the content. The image is stationary and the entries scroll behind it. Possible? I've been looking all over for a tutorial on what to do and this looks like the place to find if it's doable. Thanks!

I do believe it is possible though I'll have to mess around a bit to manage it. I do remember that making a banner or rather header image fixed will prevent it from scrolling but you may have to start the maincontent of the layout with a wide margin at top because it is likely to want to tuck under the image since it is effectively being removed from the structure of the layout.

If that makes any sense at all.

Okay so I've got it worked out. A tutorial is going to be hard because it won't always apply to any layout but I will try my best.

We can always work out the kinks when you come across them.

I created a community call mcu_avengers and I am in need of a layout badly.

I don't really care about colors, headers and styles. The only little thing I ask is that the header have the comm name and the tiny marvel symbol on it a corner. Please help me!
