It is quite possible if you have a layout that was created from scratch you are seeing a comments error on your journal. Here is an example:

Suddenly there is a "footer" bar or hovering comment links at the bottom of your page when you are in a post with comments.

What is happening.... )

Looks like LJ is starting to listen to us and I have to wonder if it has to do with new management. They our asking our opinion and how does the old saying go "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." In other words, go to the post link below and tell them how they can make LJ your favorite place on the internet and be polite. Seriously, people love to hear you sympathize with them and you think they are doing a good job even if there is something you don't like.

Some of the suggestions I made to LJ are on this list, though I bet I'm not the only one who made them. I work in customer service and I work with website feedback all the time. Do you realize the negative put downs are opened, barely read and then deleted? The moment you rant at them, the moment you start putting them down; they won't listen.

So my suggestions is to be polite, helpful, give examples of issues, tell them why you think something is just going to improve LJ. They want to know these things, not that you hate them for changing stuff. Help them improve. Let's teach them what we really want.

We wanted to post here to let you know that we've been reading your feedback, to show you what the most common feedback we have received is, and to give you an opportunity to let us know what else we may have missed. So far, what we know is:

1) You don't like how everything just suddenly changed with no warning or initial announcement.

2) The colors are too light. Especially with regards to comment pages (both header colors and the grey text color), text entered into the Update page, the entry page text, and links/lj tags which you have visited look too similar to those you haven't.

In addition to the new services Akudovich teases, LiveJournal is also rolling out new iOS and Android applications next month, designed to appeal to both writers and readers. And the company is hopping on the ‘anonymity’ bandwagon, now in vogue thanks to services like Whisper, Yik Yak and Secret, noting that LiveJournal “will remain anonymous and will never ask its users to identify themselves.”

That’s also been a big selling point for the service in areas of the world where free speech crackdowns continue, including in Russia. (For instance, LiveJournal recently removed the display of subscriber numbers on LJ blogs, following the approval of a new Russian law that imposed stricter rules on bloggers with over 3,000 daily visits.)

Read this article. It is interesting though a little scary. I don't like Medium and I'm hoping they wish to improve the service like I mentioned in the Change Isn't Always Bad post.

Still a better IOS App would be appreciated.

I know there are probably some of you out there who aren't really appreciating the changes to Live Journal but I actually like them. Granted the "homepage" navbar is complicated but I think after spending a little time clicking around and getting used to it; it works well. Now, it does get annoying that LJ has to update things constantly but at the same time they are trying to improve things.

I've already noticed that some of the text editor issues have disappeared. I can now manually enter Blockquotes without the editor creating new line after new line between my previous paragraph and said blockquote.

What I would like to see is a return to table adding and blockquotes. Why did those buttons disappear off the text editor so long ago only to be forgotten?

A few more changes I would like to see:

  1. The ability to set what I want as my default size to images. I'm sick of them always coming up as 300px. I want them to be original size or whatever size I want to make them.

  2. The fore-mentioned blockquote button and table button.

  3. Maybe add userpics under that MyBlog menu so finding, updating and changing userpics isn't so difficult. Also add scrapbook so we can get to our scrapbooks easily.

  4. Give us the ability to "randomly" choose our user icon. This can be a fun feature.

  5. The ability to have pages and expand our navigation bar....

Why #5... )

What are you disliking about the changes? Anything you can't find?
Please be respectful.

The much hated friends feed which will completely render the styling for the friends pages I do obsolete and mean they are just like places like Facebook which do not let you design your own corner of the world.

Go to LJ Releases new update to complain in a respectable and civil manner please.

I also recommend just not using it. Don't switch if you don't have to. I have mine as the older version and refuse to switch. I'm going to just deal with the little bar telling me I'm using the old version until I'm forced. I feel like if we continuing using the old friends feed and ignore the changes maybe they'll take a hint (probably not but worth a try).

    Layout Change Quick Guide
If you like Flexible Squares, I have tons of layouts for you, and still create them.

I've been creating Layouts for DW's Bannering. Here's how to use them:
1. Go to Transmogrified Layouts.
2. Choose Basic.
3. Go to Custom CSS.
4. Make sure all boxes are unchecked
5. Copy Coding to Stylesheet Box.
6. Make sure to update with your own images/image urls. Imgur images are okay to be used.
7.Click Save.
