Theme: Flexible Squares and Nebula
Actions: Full Size Comments Bar Appearing In Custom Posts.

It is quite possible if you have a layout that was created from scratch you are seeing a comments error on your journal. Here is an example:

Suddenly there is a "footer" bar or hovering comment links at the bottom of your page when you are in a post with comments.

What's Happening
So I noticed this on Monday and started messing around with my layouts only to realize that something was very wrong. And I'd just recently read how LJ had updated things. So I sent them a Support Message and got back this response.

Thank you for your report of this problem with loading comments, and I apologize for the inconvenience it is causing. This issue is affecting longer comment threads in journals or communities that use the Flexible Squares or Nebula styles.

This bug has been reported and a fix is being created. Again, my apologies for the inconvenience until the issue is resolved.

So LJ informed me the problem was resolved and but the issue persisted and I found some help with the coding which you can find over at THIS POST.

Pass the word on by reposting this message....

I'm betting LJ's update messed something up so we will all just have to wait and see if they fix it anytime soon. And yes, it does feel like every time LJ fixes something they break something else. Let's hope this is resolved soon.

I really wonder why... It was really awesome the last few weeks. But now nothing's working. -.-

Ughhh. They should really have more people on their team. LJ is still slow for me and doesn't want to post comments, and when it does post it leaves like 3.

It shouldn't take this long to fix a problem. Their update was only about movie night, why would they mess around with different codings? Doesn't make sense.

Also, I noticed the footer bar in [livejournal.com profile] abc_onceupon and my person journal - and I'm just like LJ messed up another thing.

Thanks for the info, I was getting pissed about that. Now, let's gonna wait.

Sorry if this is a little bit off-topic, but since I'm using your wonderful layouts both in my journal and my community, I'd like to ask you for some advices. This last LJ update really worried me. I mean, I think it's great they're working on an adaptive design to improve the "mobile experience" with the site, but what are they doing exactly? Are they coding with HTML5 and CSS3, or something like that? And, if that's the case, what about our blogs made of HTML and CSS2? Maybe the homepage of LJ will have an "adaptive design", but our journals won't. Isn't it a little bit... CRAPPY? I don't know if it has to do with that or not, but since they've updated the site's code, my journal seems so heavy and slow, as if LJ was having problems to load it.

I was wondering if LJ has any adaptive layout, with a fluid/liquid/elastic/howeveritiscalled design, optimized for both PC and mobile experience. Do you know anything about it? I'm not sure what's the difference between LJ types of layout... Why is flexible squares so popular, for example? Is it better/easier than the others? I think the "adaptive one" is the chameleon type, but... God, there are only two or three optiones by free, and they're ugly! Have you ever thought about making an adaptive layout based on chameleon code? Is it even possible to do it? I tried to search info about this, but found nothing.

For last, I know you have your home site on weebly, and I'd like to ask you how is that platform. I know they have both PC and mobile versions of their themes, and that's important to me. But what about their layouts and designs? Are they customizable? Is there a real variety of looks, do we have full control over our website? I'm a writer, so I'm searching for a easy site where reading long texts doesn't get annoying.

BFFF, SORRY FOR THIS MASSIVE COMMENT 8'D But you're so professional and I really trust in your opinion.

Thank you very much for your time! :)

Don't say that; you have more experience and always share it here to help us very kindly. Even if you don't know how to solve a problem, you try to find out how to fix it for us. So, at least for me, you're pretty pro XD

Thanks for your advices! I feel relieved, hope everything will be actually okay with all these updates and LJ keeps improving without fucking us too much. I've seen you finally found out how to fix that odd comments bar problem, so thanks for it too, I'm gonna edit the code right now! :D

About Weebly, I'd like to ask you one last question: can we organize the content of our website in "pages", like Wordpress? I think you told me about that feature, some time ago, when I asked you about the differences between the most popular platforms of blogging. That "page feature" is something I really miss in LJ, so if I can find it in Weebly, I'll set there my home site. You convinced me with its advantages :)

Thank you so much again for all your help! ♥

Sorry, I'm awful at english :'D

But yes, I think you've got it. I was talking about the capability to organize the content of the web in separate sections, instead of having all the post mixed in a "home page" (like LJ). For example; if I have two or three different anthologies of short stories, I'd want a navbar button named "short stories", which displays into submenus like "anthology 1", "anthology 2" (each of them with submenus of their respective short stories, too), and so on. Ok, it's a pretty dumb example, but you know, that's what I meant XD Not a blog, but a place to keep "tidy" my work, as a kind of archive. And I think Weebly definitely has what I was looking for.

I don't care about Weebly's blog, because I rather keep my blog here, in LJ. Maybe could I... syndicate it? Is it said that way? When you post something in a platform and it's also submitted in another automatically... Anyway, I think a web fits better with my purpose than a blog, so I'll follow your advice and mess with Weebly, it looks pretty interesting :D

Thanks again! I'm so sorry for being so annoying, but I appreciate your help a lot!

Thanks once again for all your help! XD

Though I have almost no experience, I also love coding, so I'll do my best with Weebly :D If I find something really hard, I'll ask you for advice again. And don't worry, I'll tell you too if I find out something interesting! XD

Thanks! :)
