Non-Paid Users: What theme have you ended up with?

Hey eveyone out there!

I started looking into other base layouts to create from, but quickly realized I didn't know much about them. Did they have perks others didn't? So I'm curious. If you've been switched from Flexible Squares or you have used another theme in the past, let me know which ones you like and why.

The ones still available are:

• Air


• Chameleon


• Expressive


• Expressive Winter


• Minimalism


• Mixit

I started investigating Expressive but again, I've literally done nothing but Flexible Squares for years so you tell me. Any preferences?

Also please share this and the tutorial on keeping your Flexible Squares so we get it out there.

Thankfully, I stayed with Flexible Squares and hadn't changed it when LJ decided to take them down.

I think I've used Minimalism and maybe Mixit before, and they were okay.

I wish they didn't take down Smooth Sailing as that would be my next go-to layout style after Flexible Squares T.T

Well, paid users can use either Flexible Squares or Smooth Sailing from my tutorial about how to keep it. Of course, if you aren't a paid user then I advise not changing it. I'm hoping to make future layouts in a supported theme and Flexible Squares.

Hey,

I never had Flexible Squares in the first place so I had to think of another solution. I experimented with a few theme and now I'm using Autumn, Expressive by Taylor Savvy.

It's pretty nice! I more or less have it how I want it to look with a bit of customization. Now I'm trying to change the header and tag text colours from orange to blue so it fits with my custom made header and background. Any tips for how I might do this?

Hey I'm just back with an update, I managed to change most of the link colours for the Expressive theme. The only thing I still haven't figured out is the "previous 10" button at the top of the page.

I'm not seeing the Previous 10 at the top of your page?

Hi, I tried to change the colour of the "Previous 10" link on my page but the code I tried didn't work.

So instead I used this code to get rid of it completely, at least from the top of my entries.

".stream-header .prevnext {display: none;}"

You can still see the "Previous 5" (i changed it from 10 to 5 entries) at the bottom of the page, displayed in orange which doesn't really go with my layout colour scheme, I would still like to change it to pink or blue, then my layout would be perfect. I really appreciate you looking into this for me. :)

I was leaning towards that one too. It seemed almost natural but it is a different language entirely to the FlexiSquares. So it is a learning curve for me. However, I'm not bad a figuring these things out once I've devoted time to it.
