The LJ Cut

I love reading my friends posts. I bet you love reading your friends posts as well. But I think there are beginners out there that don't understand what a LJ-Cut is. A LJ-Cut or LiveJournal-Cut is a way to cut down our post so your friend don't have a huge post from you on their friends page. Now that isn't to say they don't want to read the post but when looking through all those friends posts it is hard to have to scroll through a huge amount of content that just happens to be from only one friend.
Videos
You might not know that some LiveJournal users might have trouble with videos automatically playing when they come up on their friends page. Others have trouble with them coming up which causes their friend page viewing to take much longer than they'd hoped.
Images
All image are so fun but when you have a lot of them in a post and there is not LJ-Cut you friends are loading that on their page. It might take them a while to get their friends page to load because of that, while not taking nearly as long if they simply go to your page.
LJ Etiquette
It has become a common courtesy on LiveJournal to use the LJ-Cut when you've posted something very long, have a bunch of pictures, or are posting several videos. This isn't something I prefer (though I do) but something a lot of your friends will on occasion politely remind you about.
Finding the LJ-Cut option
1. Highlight your text/videos/images that will be behind the cut.
2. Click the LJ-Cut button.

3. A small window will prompt you to name the cut. I often leave the "Read More..." but you can title it... "Funny Cat Video, Friends Images and more..."

4. It Okay and you'll see the open cut and close cut indicators.

5. Save your post and go to your journal homepage to check out the result.
