Quicker Way to Change Your Moodtheme

Dilemma: You want to change your moodtheme but you don't want to sit at the computer putting 1 image code in at a time through the Create a Custom Moodtheme Link.
Solution: LJ Admin Console.

So you've found a Moodtheme at a community or a friends journal that you just have to use. Well let me teach you how to use it in the simplest manner possible.

1. Download the moodtheme to your computer.

2. PhotoBucket.com: Upload moodtheme to a PhotoBucket folder specifically for that theme (separate folders make things less confusing).

3. LJ Admin Console: Go to the LJ Admin Console.

4. Commands: In the enter commands box put: moodtheme_create "NAME" "DESCRIPTION" (ie moodtheme_create "Pixar Mood by upsa_daisey" "Pixar Mood by upsa_daisey") I like to make name and description the same. Then click execute.


5. Get the #: You will see green text that tells you your attempt was successful. You will need the number they give you.

6. Text File: Now you can modify the below coding:

Steps to Modifying coding:
A. Copy coding into Notepad

B. Edit > Replace 000000 with the number you were provided.

C. Edit > Replace FOLDER ADDY with the beginning of a direct link to an image in your mood theme folder. So if the addy is http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j49/MYALBUM/moodthemes/MOODTHEM-ImUsing/happy.png. Just remove the /happy.png and use that code (i.e. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j49/MYALBUM/moodthemes/MOODTHEM-ImUsing).

D. Edit > Replace .gif to .jpg or .png if the images are in this format. Leave alone if they are .gifs as that is what I currently have in the coding above.

E. Edit > Replace 100 45 with the dimensions of your desired images. They are usually all the same. So if you images are all 110 width and 41 height you want to do Edit > Replace 100 45 to 110 41.

7. Coding Copy: Now that you've finished modifying the coding, copy all of it and go back to the LJ Admin Console and insert it into the Enter Commands box. Hit Execute.


8. Success?: A long list of successful date should come up.


9. Double check your work by going to Custom Mood Theme Editor and click on your moodtheme to see if all the images are coming up.

10. Adjustments: If 1 or 2 images aren't working you can go into edit from the Mood Theme Editor and fix these images.

I have an new animated Mood theme, that I can not get to work, for whatever the reason.

others are using it, so it should do the trick.

duhu, I have tried to instal the Mood theme using your tutorial.

Everything is there, except the actual pictures. Same as when I tried to instal it before.

Maybe the size is the problem?

It is 130x50. Animated.

But others are using it.

Problem is solved.

By now I know what went wrong. This seems to be a case of "learning by doing"

I already had a MoodTheme Folder at Photobucket, and created a Subfolder for this new Animated MoodTheme.

This is why the pictures didn`t show up. After I created a new main Folder and re uploaded the animations, I was able to instal the new MoodTheme.

And, your Tutorial is just awesome. I got it done using it.

I know this is OLD old old.. but i just found this tut and am having buckets of problems..

It seems with the new photobucket, they're adding letters to the file names when i upload? so when i follow your instructions to a T the images don't load?

The problem is that now you have to change the url for each image to what the new image code is unless we can figure out how to prevent PhotoBucket from changing all the names... let me see....

Honestly, what it looks like is that if you upload in the older version of PB (there should be a link at the top that says to switch back to the old PhotoBucket, and tell them why) you can make it so the images are not uploaded with the privacy coding feature.

When you click the upload button, before choosing images and a folder click on the "Customize Upload Options" at the top.

Make sure the "scramble my filenames" option is no checked. Then upload into the old version of PB. Then this tutorial should work like magic.

i tried out your instructions to install an animated mood theme, but, although it appears to be installed, in the admin console it has this message "You do not own this mood theme." in red, and in the custom mood theme the images do not show...

i don't know what's wrong?...

I love all your layouts and helpful information. I am a fan of this site. I am having an issue as I have done this several times and each time I have successful finished it will show up as deleted or moved when it has not, can you please help me?

I think the image links maybe corrupted. I fill out the info and it accepts the code and is successful but when the image comes out it states that the photo has been moved or deleted but that is not true. And I went into and enter them in by hand and the images don't show up so I am confused as to what the issue is.

Would I have to re-upload all photos or new links?

I also have a tiny off topic question, I saw one of tour themes allowed a banner of 1600 x 300 size and I have uploaded it here and photobucket and it shrinks down and I was wondering if there is a place I could post where it will not resize it or at least find a way to upload without it shrinking.

Any help with the above inquires will help me.

If you are having trouble with PhotoBucket resizing images then you need to upload them to your Scrapbook here at PhotoBucket and use the Original Size coding.

Also the background in your coding is at my PhotoBucket. Please save that image and upload it to your photobucket.
